Performance & Technology
Speed benchmarks, Core Web Vitals, and technology assessment for RmKV Silks
Mobile PageSpeed Score
A mobile lab score of 36, level with Nalli. Real Chrome users see a fast first load, so the low score comes from heavy JavaScript, not from slow loading.
Competitive Comparison
Benchmarked against 3 leading Fashion & Apparel stores in your market
| Store | Mobile Score | Desktop Score | Mobile LCP | Mobile CLS | Mobile TBT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RmKV Silks (Client) | 36 | 60 | 6.2s | 0.001 | 1,470ms |

INP Tap/click responsiveness
What This Means for Revenue
RmKV scores 36/100 on mobile in Google's Lighthouse lab test, the same as Nalli (36) and well behind Kanakavalli (81). The silver lining: Chrome User Experience Report field data, measured over 28 days of real visitors, rates the first load FAST — LCP 2.1s, FCP 1.7s and CLS 0.000. The lab score is dragged down by 1,470ms of Total Blocking Time: JavaScript (the theme's own scripts, a Shiprocket checkout iframe and analytics tags) keeps the phone's main thread busy after the page appears. Real users feel this as responsiveness rather than load time. Field INP is 207ms, just over Google's 200ms 'good' line, so taps on swatches, filters and Add to Cart respond a beat late. Kanakavalli shows a heavy silk catalogue can still score 81 with near-zero blocking time, so trimming and deferring third-party scripts is a realistic, contained win.
Technology Stack
Platform
Shopify
Hosted Shopify store with native Shopify checkout; scalable and PCI-compliant by default.
Theme
Ella 6.6.2 (Halothemes)
- Type: Premium marketplace theme, customised (theme_store_id not set)
- Ella 6.6.2 - a general fashion theme with a customised product page and a Shiprocket promise script
- Predictive search and wishlist work; PDP related-products block renders empty and no sticky Add to Bag
Checkout & Payments
Native Shopify Checkout (one-page, 3 steps) via Razorpay (stated in the site FAQ); not verified at the payment step
- Guest checkout: Available - email field on the Information step, sign-in optional
- Express checkout: No Shop Pay / Google Pay / UPI express buttons seen on the cart or bag drawer
- Payment step not entered (no test purchase); no payment-method icons shown on PDP, bag or cart
Technology Assessment
RmKV runs on Shopify with the Ella 6.6.2 theme and native Shopify checkout, a sound base. The storefront layer has gaps a heritage silk brand will feel: no sticky Add to Bag, an empty related-products block, no express/UPI-first payment cues and no reviews layer. Roughly 30 third-party hosts load on the homepage, including seven analytics/pixel tools, and no consent bar was found.
UX & Conversion Findings
Page-by-page analysis with visual comparisons against top Fashion & Apparel stores
- The top announcement bar talks only about shipping, with nothing on returns or genuine handloom silk.
- Returns information is buried inside a collapsed section on the product page, so most visitors never see it.
- On an expensive silk purchase, doubt about returns and authenticity is the main reason first-time visitors leave without buying.
- Rotate shipping, an easy-returns promise and a heritage-trust line (such as 'Since 1924') in the announcement bar, so shoppers feel safe from the first screen.
- Show the India free-shipping message first for Indian visitors, so the most relevant offer is seen immediately.
- Pothys leads its announcement bar with an easy-returns guarantee; putting trust messages up front is standard practice for leading fashion stores.
- Every homepage tile links to a category; no saree, price or Add to Bag button appears on the page.
- Shoppers must open a category before they see a single product or price, which adds effort and loses impatient visitors.
- Add a 'New Arrivals' or 'Bridal Bestsellers' row of sarees with prices just below the main banner, so shoppers can start browsing products straight away.
- Make the 'Trending Picks' section product-led, so visitors see real sarees and price points without extra clicks.
- Pothys shows priced bestsellers with Add to Cart buttons on its homepage, a common best practice that shortens the path to purchase.
- Nothing on the homepage lets a shopper book a live video session or a store appointment; the only help is a small chat bubble.
- Bridal silk is a high-value, high-worry purchase, and shoppers who cannot touch the fabric or get guidance often leave without buying.
- Add a clear 'Shop by Video Call' banner on the homepage that lets shoppers book a live session with a saree expert, so doubts are answered before they leave.
- Link it to the store locator for an in-store appointment, so shoppers who prefer to visit can still be captured.
- Kanakavalli runs a dedicated 'Virtual Shopping - Sessions' section on its homepage and Pothys promotes 'Shop by Video Call' in its homepage banner; expert-assisted shopping is best practice for premium silk.
- The only social proof is a 'RmKV Brides' story carousel placed near the bottom of the homepage, so most visitors never reach it.
- The stories are long text with no star rating, review count or customer quote, so a first-time buyer gets no quick signal that others trust the brand.
- For a high-value silk purchase, missing early reassurance leads hesitant visitors to leave or compare elsewhere.
- Add a compact rating strip with stars and review count right below the hero banner, so trust is visible on the first screens.
- Pull two or three short customer quotes from the bride stories into a section higher on the page, linking to the full story.
- Pothys shows an overall star rating and review count just under its hero banner, and showing ratings up front is best practice for premium fashion stores.
- The homepage tiles only split sarees by fabric and weave, such as Kanchipuram or Soft Silk, so shoppers who think in terms of budget or occasion have no starting point.
- Bridal appears as just one tile inside a long second block, and there is no wedding-guest or festive shortcut, so these high-intent shoppers must dig through the menu.
- Shoppers who cannot quickly find something in their budget or for their event tend to leave rather than browse hundreds of sarees.
- Add a 'Shop by Budget' row of price bands and a 'Shop by Occasion' row (bridal, wedding guest, festive) near the top, each linking to a ready collection.
- Keep the existing weave tiles lower down for shoppers who already know the weave they want.
- Nalli Silks offers a 'Shop by Price' section and occasion-based featured collections on its homepage, and these shortcuts are a widely used best practice for high-ticket fashion.
- Collection tiles show a small, soft photo of the saree folded flat, so the pallu, border and drape that sell a silk saree are hard to see.
- Shoppers browsing hundreds of sarees choose by look, and tiles that do not show the saree worn make every option feel alike, so fewer click into a product.
- The same folded-cloth style repeats across the grid, which makes the page feel less premium than the brand's own homepage photography.
- Use the draped or model photo as the main tile image, with the folded shot as the hover or second image, so the real look is visible while browsing.
- Serve sharper tile images so border and zari detail stay crisp on phone screens.
- Pothys shows full-length model-draped photos on its wedding silk tiles and Nalli Silks uses draped mannequin shots; showing the draped saree is best practice for saree stores.
- Tile names are cut off mid-sentence, so the border, motif and weave details that tell sarees apart are hidden.
- Tiles show only a name and price, with no star rating or review count, so shoppers have no social signal while comparing.
- To learn what a saree is like, shoppers must open each product page, which slows browsing and lets them drop off.
- Show a second short line on each tile with the weave and border style, so sarees can be compared at a glance.
- Add a small star rating and review count once product reviews are live, so popular sarees stand out.
- None of the three competitors was verified to show this exact tile detail, so this is cited as a widely used best practice for fashion collection pages.
- Product pages show no star rating, no review count and no reviews section.
- For a premium silk saree, shoppers look for proof from other buyers before they commit; without it many leave to 'think about it'.
- Collect reviews after delivery over WhatsApp or email, inviting customers to add photos of the saree worn.
- Show the star rating right under the product name and a few photo reviews further down, so proof is visible at the moment of decision.
- Pothys shows star ratings and written reviews with replies on its saree pages; reviews on product pages are a widely used best practice in fashion.
- Once a shopper scrolls past the main Add to Bag button, nothing replaces it on screen.
- The mobile product page is long, so a shopper reading fabric and care details must scroll all the way back up to buy, and some never do.
- Add an Add to Bag bar fixed to the bottom of the screen with the price, appearing once the main button scrolls out of view.
- Keep the WhatsApp help button clear of the bar, so both 'buy now' and 'ask an expert' stay easy to reach.
- Nalli keeps a fixed Add to Bag bar on its mobile product pages; this is standard on nearly every leading fashion store.
- Product pages lead with a folded flat-lay photo on white, with no model, drape or pallu view.
- The gallery has only a few similar shots and no video, so shoppers cannot judge the border, pallu or drape that decide a silk purchase.
- Rich on-model photography already exists on the homepage banners but never reaches the product pages.
- Lead every product page with a full-length draped photo, followed by pallu, border, zari and blouse close-ups, so shoppers can picture themselves wearing it.
- Add a short drape video and pinch-to-zoom on details, so the craftsmanship that justifies the price is visible.
- Nalli opens its Kanchipuram pages with an on-model drape shot backed by a full gallery; multi-angle product imagery is standard across leading fashion stores.
- There is no pincode check or delivery date near the Add to Bag button.
- The only delivery details sit in a collapsed section that opens with international customs text, which is irrelevant to Indian shoppers.
- Buyers shopping for a wedding or festival date need to know the saree will arrive in time; without that certainty they delay or buy elsewhere.
- Add a pincode checker under Add to Bag that shows an expected delivery date, so shoppers can commit with confidence.
- Show India delivery and returns details first and move international shipping into its own section, so domestic shoppers find answers quickly.
- Kanakavalli states its dispatch time on product pages; showing delivery timelines before checkout is a common best practice among leading Indian online stores.
- Below the product details there are no similar or related sarees, only the saree already being viewed under 'Recently Viewed'.
- The 'You may also like' section starts to load and then disappears, so it is effectively broken.
- A shopper who likes the style but not the exact colour has no easy next step except leaving the page.
- Fix the 'You may also like' section and fill it with sarees of the same weave and similar price, so interested shoppers keep browsing instead of leaving.
- Add a 'Complete the look' row with blouses and accessories, so shoppers find everything they need in one place.
- Nalli shows 'Similar Colors' and 'Similar Patterns' rows on every saree page; related-product suggestions are standard on leading fashion stores.
- Neither the bag drawer nor the cart page suggests any additional product.
- Saree buyers usually also need a blouse, fall and pico or a petticoat; the cart is the last natural moment to offer them, and that chance is missed today.
- Show a few one-tap add-ons under the saree, such as a readymade blouse, blouse stitching, fall and pico, or a saree bag, so each order grows naturally.
- Use the cart to explain stitching and finishing timelines, so shoppers add these services with confidence.
- Pothys recommends readymade blouses with Add to Cart buttons on its cart page; cart add-ons are a proven best practice for lifting order value.
- The checkout button has no payment icons, secure-payment note or returns reminder around it.
- The button stays greyed out until a terms checkbox is ticked, adding friction at the moment of highest intent.
- On a high-value silk order, any doubt about payment safety at this step leads to abandoned carts.
- Show accepted payment methods (UPI, cards, netbanking) and a 'Secure payment' note just above the checkout button, so shoppers feel safe to proceed.
- Replace the mandatory checkbox with a simple 'By continuing you agree to the terms' line, so the button is active straight away.
- None of the three saree competitors does this in the cart yet, so it is a chance to stand out; trust signals near the buy decision are a widely used best practice across leading fashion stores.

App Stack Assessment
RmKV has 10 detected tools covering analytics, wishlist, search, email and chat, but nothing that builds proof or reduces risk on a Rs.15,000+ purchase. Adding reviews, a video-call booking bridge and EMI messaging would address the gaps the finding cards show.
